Our STory

Meet the Founder – Mana Brightman

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, the bush has always been my home. My story begins in Mana Pools National Park, where my parents first met, the very place that inspired my name. From as far back as I can remember, I grew up alongside wildlife: helping to care for orphaned animals, learning the language of the bush, and witnessing the daily fight to protect it.

Conservation runs deep in my family. My father, Mark Brightman, has dedicated his life to protecting Zimbabwe’s wildlife, from his early years in National Parks to leading the Bumi Hills Anti-Poaching Unit, where he continues to safeguard the wildlife in the area.

My uncle, Charles Brightman, is a professional guide and conservationist who founded the Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit and has spent nearly four decades guiding safaris and protecting wildlife across Hwange NP & Victoria Falls.

Their work, their passion, and their sacrifices shaped me, and it’s their legacy that fuels my own calling.

This is why I created Amani Safaris. For me, it is not just a safari company, it’s a way of sharing my family’s story, our knowledge of the bush, and the hidden corners of Zimbabwe that few ever get to see. At Amani, I don’t want you to feel like a visitor. I want you to feel like part of our family, carrying with you the same love and respect for this land that has been passed down to me.

When you come on safari with us, you’re stepping into something real, something lasting. My hope is that you leave not only with memories, but with a piece of Africa forever in your heart.
